Praise God in all His creations, both huge and miniscule, both seen and unseen.

Honey bees are fascinating creatures. Ever hear the saying, "Busy as a bee"? Well, honey bee hives are busy indeed. The hive is made up of worker bees, which are infertile female bees. Their sole purpose in life is to ensure the survival of the hive. They work as nannies, custodians, security guards, soldiers, food gatherers and as "ladies in waiting" to their queen. Although their lifespan is measured in weeks, a lot must be accomplished in that short amount of time. Another wonder of the bee hive is that only the Queen Bee is able to reproduce. To do so, an otherwise normal worker bee is fed copious amount of a substance known as royal jelly. This mysterious bee product transforms this queen into a egg-laying super machine. She is much larger and is also likely to live 40 times longer than her sister bees. Her sisters will do absolutely anything for her. When it is time to forge for food, the worker bees must fly out into the world to discover a nectar source and then return to tell the others where to look. Do they carry back maps? Of course not, but they do have a GPS system of sorts. It is called the bee dance. Once they discover nectar, they bring some back to the hive. To let the others know where to find this food source, they do a series of "dances" or "wiggles" that literally contain precise information as to the location of the food.

This spring when you gaze at all the beautiful things coming to life, remember where the source of all that beauty begins. God's miraculous creations are found everywhere. They did not happen by chance. Each was lovingly and masterfully planned. From the awe-inspiring super moons to the tiniest ant colonies. From the intricate woven bird nest to the sea creature from unknown ocean depths. Admire the handiwork, but above all, worship its Creator.
