For the fans of the Decorah Eagles in Iowa, the season is winding down. The eaglets, or juvies as they're now referred to, have fledged and are ready to embark on a future beyond our view. This season has been one of extreme hills and valleys, immense joy and sorrow, fear of the unknown and hope for the yet to be seen future. We are still reeling from the loss of Dad Decorah and though we don't have any definitive answers as to his whereabouts, we all know deep in our hearts that he would be here if he could. We all held our collective breaths as Mom Decorah was left totally and utterly on her own to raise three eaglets to maturity. We wondered, worried and if we are honest, at times doubted she could do this. But we quickly remembered that her teacher throughout these wonderful years has been Dad, and that started a glimmer of light that has grown into a sunburst of glory. Mom Decorah stepped up to the challenge and surpassed all our expectations. She is now the Mistress of this Decorah territory and all its treasures. Her mark on this land will continue for years go come. And what a magnificent new beginning she has started. Decorah Season 2018 will forever be the year of Dad's Destiny and Mom's Magnificence. And of that we had no doubt. **Photos courtesy of Pinterest and personal screenshot from Raptor Resource Project.
