Spiders don't have identity crises. The Yellow Garden Spider aka "argiope aurantia." Like all the rest of her kind, she spins a web, spends her days waiting for the unsuspecting insect, mates, creates an egg sac, and then soon after, dies. This life cycle goes on season to season, year after year. She will always be a Yellow Garden Spider- not a Black Widow or Tarantula. Not a Sparrow or Hummingbird. Not a Bear or Bunny. Just a Yellow Garden Spider. Her identity is hot wired in her DNA. She really has no other choices. But she has a special place in the universe given to her by her Creator.
We humans, on the other hand, have been given a special gift. We have choices. We can use our wildest imagination to reach for the stars if we choose. But this gift has its downside. We struggle and question who we really are. We listen to outside voices who decide they want to choose our identity for us. We are flattered, coerced, led or bullied into something that was never meant for us.
Listen to your inner voice. It knows its identity too. It truly does. Be still. Be alone. Be brave. Let your passion guide you. Be an Artist. Be a Teacher. Be a Missionary. Be a Bus Driver. Be what your Creator has given you the life force to do in this world.
Spin your own magnificent web of life. Your own path. Walk it boldly and never look back.
