A Lesson From Trees

Magnolia Trees are blooming! Did you know that these trees can live to be over 80 years old? There is one blooming now in a park where I walk.

Frankly, the tree itself is not the prettiest I've seen. Its trunk is quite gnarly and misshapen, but I like its character. It tells me it has a story to tell. I recently discovered that trees can look like they are dead or dying but still be "quite alive." Appearances can be deceiving.

The secret of trees lies beneath
the surface in their roots; their foundation. Strong roots equals strong tree. Strong foundation equals long life.

We sure could learn a lot from trees...
